Sabbatical Day 28

15 Feb

Read more Bernanke’s speeches.  Does not acknowledge the Fed’s role in the housing boom and bust. Will explore this in depth in my book.

New book on my Kindle, FED UP, an insider’s account of the Federal Reserve.  Should be enlightening.

Germany has got its gold back — They must know something we don’t

14 Feb

“An official announcement last week that the Bundesbank had pretty much repatriated half its gold reserves ahead of schedule has once again sent the rumor mill into overdrive.”

PC Crime Reporting?

14 Feb

In today’s Fort Lee Patch a report of a bank robbery down the street from where I live includes a photo from the bank’s security camera clearly shows that the robber is a black male.  However, in the article there is no mention of the robber’s description.  What gives?

BREAKING: The suspect fled the bank on foot, police said.

Sabbatical Day 27

13 Feb

Continued reading more of Bernanke’s speeches and testimony.  His August 2007 Jackson Hole speech will be highlighted in my book, because it points out why is wrong with banking and Fed policy.

Trying to shake off the head cold.  Drowsiness is one of the side effects of the head congestion.

Stockman: “What’s Going On Today Is Complete Insanity” | Zero Hedge

13 Feb

“What’s going on today is complete insanity,” said David Stockman. “The market is apparently pricing in a huge Trump stimulus. But if you just look at the real world out there, the only thing that’s going to happen is a fiscal bloodbath and a White House train wreck like never before in U.S. history.”

Jeff Sessions and the Thuggery of Asset Forfeiture | Foundation for Economic Education

13 Feb

“Jeff Sessions is a supporter of “asset forfeiture,” which occurs when governments steal money and property from citizens without convicting them of any crime. Sometimes without even charging them with a crime. We’re not joking. This happens with distressing regularity.”

Sabbatical Day 26

12 Feb

Appeared on the Political Roundtable (WMTR 1250 on the AM dial) this morning hosted by Julie Briggs.  We discussed President Trump’s actions and statements about immigration, the Middle East, a blind trust for his businesses and other issues.  Later in the day I did a podcast with Jay Edgar of New Jersey; discussed a variety of issues, but we focused on international trade.

Jim Rogers: “We’re About To Have The Worst Economic Problems Of A Lifetime, A Lot Of People Will Disappear”

12 Feb

“Governments love [the war on cash]. Then they can control you…we are not going to have as many freedoms as we have now …get prepared because we’re going to have the worst economic problems we’ve had in your lifetime or my lifetime and when that happens a lot of people are going to disappear.”

Three Cheers for The Record…sort of

12 Feb

However, we already have too much gun “control” in New Jersey, where the people cannot exercise their Second Amendment rights.  A smart gun law? There is no such thing.

“We consistently support smart gun laws. There are too many guns in the hands of people who should never have access to a firearm.”

Trying to shake off the head cold all day.  Spent an hour viewing a webinar on using technical analysis to decipher the financial markets at www.stockcharts.com.  Much free stuff but a subscription is worth it.
