Obamacare will lead to “death panels”

23 Mar

President Obama signed his healthcare “reform” bill Tuesday.  The landmark law has been hailed as one of the most important pieces of legislation in the history of the Republic.  Proponents of Obamacare assert that after more than a hundred years of trying, finally, the federal government is guaranteeing virtually all Americans the right to healthcare.

If healthcare is a “right”, then everything else must also be a right–a job, food, clothing, shelter, transportation, education, computers, cell phones, etc.   According to the “logic” that healthcare is a right, then every American is entitled to not only healthcare but every every good or service that is available in the marketplace.

This perversion of the concept of “rights” is at the heart of the welfare state, namely, that human beings are entitled to all goods and services regardless of their income.

Ludwig von Mises summed it up succinctly many decades ago:    “The Welfare State is merely a method for transforming the market economy step by step into socialism.” The long term goal of Obama, Pelosi, Clinton, and the other collectivists in DC, in the Establishment media and in academia, is to transform America into their utopia, a collectivist paradise, where every human need is guaranteed by the state.  And inasmuch as there is no more compelling “right’ to collectivists than the right to healthcare, their long-term goal is to establish a single payer healthcare system.  That’s why the Democrats have been transforming–and will continue to transform–our welfare state into a socialized economy by intervening step-by-step in the economy over several decades.

Collectivism, however, cannot succeed, because it is both impractical and immoral;  it is based on denying people their natural right to life, liberty and property, and it ignores the fundamental principles of economics, supply and demand and a price system–where prices allocate resources.  In a free society, government does not have a role in medical decisions.  In a collectivist society, on the other hand, everyone is reduced, except for the political elites of course, to serfs, obedient to the dictates of the state.

Healthcare “reform” will be phased in over several years beginning with more mandates on insurance companies, higher taxes in order to cover an additional 31 million uninsured Americans, subsidized health insurance for more families, tax credits for small business owners and expanded prescription drug coverage for seniors, among other initiatives in the healthcare legislation.   An overview of health care reform reveals that the federal government will in effect take over virtually aspect of healthcare in America by the end of the decade.

Although President Obama and his official spokespersons vehemently deny that the health reform legislation he signed will create so-called death panels, the logical consequence of runaway healthcare spending as the result of Obamacare will be the establishment of government sanctioned end-of-life care “guidelines”  for Americans in the future.  In other words, government subsidized and paid for healthcare is establishing the”right” to healthcare in America will eventually lead to government having the power to pull the plug on grandma.

Well said Mr. Sabrin. Why was Obama in such a hurry to get his socialized medicine bill passed? Because he and his circle realize some basic truths:

The American people in their unimaginable kindness and trust voted for a pig in a poke in 2008. They wanted so much to believe Barack Obama was somehow better and different from other liberals. They took him on faith and Republicans put up a weak alternative.

They ignored Obama’s anti-white writings in his books. They ignored his acceptance of anti-American diatribes by his minister, Jeremiah Wright.

They ignored his refusal to explain years at a time of his life as a student. They ignored his ultra-left record as a “community organizer,” Illinois state legislator, and Senator.

The American people ignored his zero academic record as a student and teacher.

Now, the American people are starting to wake up to the truth. Barack Obama is not a fan of this country. He is too cozy with terrorist leaders in the Middle East and petty dictators.

The American people have already awakened to the truth that the stimulus bill — a great idea in theory — was really an immense bribe to Democrat interest groups, and in no way an effort to help all Americans.

Now, Americans are waking up to the truth that ObamaCare basically means that every time you are sick or injured, you will have a clerk from the Department of Motor Vehicles telling your doctor what he can and cannot do.

The American people already know that Mr. Obama’s plan to lower health costs while expanding coverage and bureaucracy is a myth, a promise of something that never was and never will be — a bureaucracy lowering costs in a free society. Either the costs go up or the free society goes away.

We have already given Iran the go-ahead to have nuclear weapons, an unqualified betrayal of the nation. Now, we face a devastating loss of freedom at home in health care. It will be joined by controls on our lives to “protect us” from global warming, itself largely a fraud if believed to be caused by man.

Mr. Obama knows Americans are getting wise and will stop him if he delays at all in taking away our freedoms.
